National Suicide Prevention Week is September 9 – 15th, 2012 and is the week of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th, 2012. As a suicide scene cleanup company, Advanced Bio Treatment frequently deals with the aftermath of suicide. In honor of Suicide Prevention Week we wanted to share some activities and resources for anyone whose life has ever been touched by suicide and for those in jeopardy.

International Association for Suicide Prevention (http://www.iasp.info/wspd/): The IASP website has a list of suggested activities and a form with which to submit activities in your local area. You can also download the World Suicide Prevention Day Brochure, the World Suicide Prevention Day 2012 Toolkit, and a World Suicide Prevention Day Certificate of Appreciation.

Take 5 To Save Lives (http://www.take5tosavelives.org/): A joint project of the National Council for Suicide Prevention and other national organizations, Take 5 To Save Lives invites people to take five minutes to get involved and informed about suicide prevention.

American Association of Suicidology (http://www.suicidology.org/): The AAS website features a number of webinars on suicide prevention being held in conjunction with National Suicide Prevention Week and the FirstLink 12th Annual “Walk of Hope”.

WellCommon’s Trauma Recovery Page (http://wellcommons.com/groups/trauma/2012/sep/3/everyone-can-help-prevent-suicide-by-kno/): In honor of National Suicide Prevention Week the site offers some tips and insights into Suicide Prevention as well as a list of suicide prevention and recovery resources. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline receives 10 and 15 calls a day related to suicide.
