New Yorkers often get the rap for being snobbish if not unfriendly.

Well, it’s not always true, living in a big city does put one on their guard a little.  Particularly in high crime rate areas and neighborhoods.

Another issue cities are facing is the rise in gang related crimes. Prostitution, gambling, arms dealing, money laundering, and home invasions are just some of the examples of crimes that gangs are involved in.

New York is on the FBI’s national high gang activity list.

Why would anyone join a gang? Maybe they are looking for a purpose in life, many members are from broken families, so they could be looking for acceptance. The illusion of power could also be a motive, not to mention the glorification of the lifestyle in music videos and movies.

Outsiders need to be careful and know that if they stumble into areas of a city they aren’t familiar with, that these areas could be gang territory. Protection is a commodity in these streets, and thugs are not opposed to extorting. People are often approached to offer something valuable or never leave.

A call came into our New York dispatch

A crime scene where a body had been decomposing for several days needed to be cleaned up. Body fluids and blood seeped out all over and left quite the cesspool.  A total decontamination of the scene as well as an odor blast was in serious order!

This appeared to be work of a gang as some tell tale signs left behind that the city police were able to identify. We don’t have the exact details, but it was evident that the victim was beaten to death and left with no identification or other personal belongings.

Crime scenes that involve blood and other biohazards should always be cleaned by a professional. Bodies can leave behind excrement, blood born pathogens, and other bacteria and viruses that can be a significant risk to human health.
