Young Boys Play With Gun
I spent six hours working on this cleanup job in Nashville, TN. Most of the blood was inside the closet area as this is where the body of the seven year old child was found. As horrifying as it is there were kids playing with a gun and one accidentally shot the other.
I can only imagine how the parents feel, being a parent myself I know this kind of loss would leave scars forever. They probably blame themselves for not preventing the kids from finding the loaded gun and for not being more aware of what was going on. Its going to hurt for a long, long time.
Imagine the things people say to you in a situation like this, imagine explaining this over and over to others, how bad that must feel. How sad to know you can not bring back your child no matter how it hurts.
Sometimes the work is heartbreaking. We are empathetic to the families as much as we can be and it is not our job to judge anyone in any way. All we can do is offer kind words and do our work as quickly as we can to restore the area back to normal. I have to wonder though if it will ever be the same? I would probably have to move.
I hope we all learn from these experiences. I hope we can take a minute and look around our homes and see if we have any dangers that we can take precautionary measures to prevent accidents such as this.
I would imagine the family will need to undergo counseling to get through this. How the other sibling must feel knowing he shot his brother, can you even imagine how that would leave you scarred for life.
