This Is One Scene I Will Never Forget

My first time ever in Chattanooga, TN will stand out in my mind as one of the most horrifying I’ve ever experienced.

We aren’t always aware of  the details of what happened.  Usually there are some clue to what happened or people around that knew the victim and shared the story.

When we got to the apartment the smell itself was enough to knock you over. This woman’s body had been found eight days after she was murdered in her own bed.

As you can see she suffered a very bloody death.  The reason, the motive, not clear to anyone at this point.

Fingerprint dust is being used all over the apartment to get clues.

We did hear that the woman had been involved with a married man and that they had taken a trip to Cancun a few weeks ago.

No matter how many times we see this kind of scene it never makes sense, never seems fair and just blows my mind.  I’m not a detective but I can’t help but try to understand what happened and figure out why.

 No Murder Weapon Was Found

The decontamination process is lengthy as there is nothing about decomposing flesh that is easy to deal with.  The stench, the blood stains and body fluids are enough to make your stomach curdle.  The new guy threw up.

Blood cleanup must be done by professionally trained blood cleanup personnel in order to protect current and future inhabitants of a property as well as to ensure the safety of those cleaning blood scenes.

Blood cleanup involves the removal and cleaning or disposal of items that have been contaminated with body fluids, blood, or tissue matter, but does not stop there. Those trained in blood cleaning are adept at tracking down and remediating areas that have been contaminated – areas that the untrained eye would not see. When a firearm is used, there is often as much biohazardous material that you cannot see as there is that is visible. For the safety of a blood cleanup technician, and of future inhabitants, it is most important that this biohazardous material be decontaminated as well.
