It’s Been A Particularly Long Week
I hope my phone doesn’t ring for a couple of days so I can catch up on some much needed rest.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my job. I love going to different cities and helping folks out who are going through severely trying times.
I love meeting people and hope that I can make their life a little easier to deal with at least for a brief period. Reality is some of these problems take a very long time to deal with and life may never be the same for the families and victims we meet. We do what we can.
I hate to say this but you know when its a full moon things have a tendency to get weird, or weirder than they already are.
Such as the case this week, we had full moon phenomenon big time. People talk about this but dismiss it, I’m telling you its true. People are affected by the full moon.
This particular job in Memphis, Tn won’t be on the news so don’t look for it. I get a little angry when I think about this again.
Apparently this family has been dealing with their daughter who is an out and out junkie for a very long time. Who knows what went wrong, when it went wrong or how. The family obviously love her a great deal and have been through so much.
Over the years apparently she stole from them numerous times, used their credit cards, ran up the phone bills, wrecked cars, got pregnant and didn’t take care of the kids so the parents ended up raising them and on and on and on it went.
To hear them tell it she used to be the sweetest girl and she turned out to be mean, manipulative and selfish. She cared about nothing except how she would find her next high.
She did more than one stent in jail, then rehab, then jail, then rehab. Lived with one dude, got kicked out, then another one, and on and on and on.
How Long Can Things Go On Before A Tragedy Happens?
As life would have it this last go round of rehab put her back on the streets. This time she was turning tricks, her family knew she was out but she wouldn’t even call to check on her own children.
The night of the full moon she apparently made a fatal mistake of robbing one of her
“johns,” She apparently thought he was asleep and wouldn’t see her slipping out.
He must have been on to her and he was well aware of what she was doing. He pulled a pistol out and shot her point blank leaving her to bleed to death in a downtown flophouse.
Would love to tell you there was a happy ending but there wasn’t one. There was a horrible scene to cleanup and we were called in and that was followed up by yet another shooting across town.
