I don’t know about you, but I’ve been so sick before from food poisoning that I thought I was going to die and they were going to find me in a pool of my own excrement or vomit… and I didn’t care one bit.

So perhaps you’ve ever stopped to wonder what happens when people get deathly ill in their homes or have an… accident….

Who cleans that stuff up?

Advanced Bio Treatment, thats who.

Not every call we get involves some horrific industrial maiming, murder by decapitation or shotgun suicide. A lot of the cases we take on here at ABT are just simply in reference to some poor soul who has met with a terribly unfortunate bout of food poisoning, like myself, or other medical malady.

The most wacky call I ever received regarding such an incident had to do with a hotel room just outside of the party district of Tampa, Ybor City.

The hotel manager, from a very large, posh hotel chain that shall remain unnamed but which rhymes with Milton, contacted my Orlando office in quite a tizzy.

Apparently the night before the hotel had played host to a rather infamous guest, known for his wild antics and silly hair, who had performed for a packed venue nearby. After the show had concluded, he had returned to the hotel with around 30 guests, the majority of them scantily clad groupies, and then they had proceeded to hit the large number of clubs and dance halls Ybor is known for until closing time, at which time a group of around 20 individuals returned to the suites that the “pop star” had reserved for the night.

The next morning, as countless females with disheveled dresses, tangled hair and smeared makeup did the walk of shame… though I guess in this case it would be considered the Fevered Walk, hint hint… out of the room, handlers were ushering a extremely drunk and groggy crooner into his luxury coach, heading off to another town and another hotel.

When housekeeping entered the rooms, however, they were stunned and disgusted. What type of debauchery had taken place overnight? Bottles and cups were carelessly tossed anywhere… drug paraphernalia and drug remnants, oh who are we kidding, there were piles of cocaine just dumped in various spots around the suites…. one in the bathroom, one on the marble countertop in the kitchen, and two more spread out on the furniture in the bedroom.

Trash cans had been used as buckets to catch an untold amount of vomit, soiled underwear had been discarded in the sink of the master bathroom and what seemed like an entire pack of condoms, used I might add, were deposited around the entire set of suites, making one wonder how many people had been having sex….

The most unexpected find, however, was the bedroom in which the young star had stayed and specifically his bed. It appeared as though he had gotten in over his head with the partying and there was evidence that he had been completely inebriated, to the point where he had shat his own bed and the proceeded to roll around in it. The sheets and the mattress had been soaked through with urine and regurgitated girlie drinks that smelled like pina coladas. In one corner of the room a pair of striped pajamas lay crumpled into a ball. When moved, it became crystal clear that they had been soiled as well. Just what the heck had happened in this room?

Later on, after we finished our remediation of the scene, we handed the room key back over to a particularly relieved hotel manager.

He told me that he had been so excited to have such a celebrity staying at the hotel, and that he had been his first one since he had taken the job three months earlier. He also told me that apparently the pop singer had gotten a hold of some really nasty powder, which had left not only him so ill that he had thrown up on stage in the middle of his concert the next night, but had also sent a number of the young ladies who had been his guests, to the local ER as well. That explained the pained looks on the brightly painted face the morning after all the revelry. I guess the fever they contracted packed more of a punch than they thought. Either way, it was one disgusting clean up.
