Hoarding Is A Serious Illness
No matter how many nasty messes I clean up every time I am called out to do a hoarding job I get a little twinge because I know its going to probably mean a huge amount of cleaning and disposing of junk.
The lady that lived in this house didn’t look like a slob, (yes she actually lived here) where she lived in the midst of all of this crap is a little hard to tell. How in the hell can you even sleep in a mess like this???
She was in her late 50’s, she dressed ok, didn’t smell bad or anything but she made a few odd comments as we were cleaning, she kept interrupting us, asking us why this, why that. She said some of her stuff came from a movie star that had passed away and left his belongings to her, yeah, right. He may have left his garbage to her with a bow on it or something but not much else! Geez! Where do these people come from?
She wanted to keep a lot of the stuff. I am amazed we ever got finished I thought she would be going out to the dumpsters and carrying stuff back in the house. She was watching so close I was relieved when someone came and picked her up so she wouldn’t be here the rest of the day. I told the guys we needed to work fast or she would be back causing trouble.
There weren’t just piles of junk there were rats in this house. One room had a rat poop all over it. She had to have known and just didn’t care.
It smelled like urine but I never figured out why. Maybe she wet the bed or something. I don’t know. All I know is I probably should have worn my mask. Remind me not to nag at my kids for how they keep their rooms because its never this bad even on its worse day!
The experts say that hoarders are suffering from a mental issue, a disease if you will. I say they are lucky if they don’t get some other disease from living in their mess!

Simple – Open – Flat Rate Pricing
Jobs can usually be scheduled within 24-48 hours. Emailing ABT photos will allow us to estimate the number of techs and dumpsters.
Small Jobs (Studio Apartments/1 Bedroom Apartments or Condos)
$1000/per day/per technician (two techs may be required to move heavy objects / furniture)
Additional expenses will be added such as dumpster / truck / dump fees/ garbage bags – plus 21%
Includes Carpet Removal and/or cleaning / disinfecting
Larger Jobs (Homes/condos 2 or more bedrooms)
$4000/per day includes 4 technicians and 1 dumpster up to 40 CY if available in your area
Additional dumpster = cost + 21%
Includes carpet removal and/or cleaning / disinfecting
Additional Services
Clean and disinfect visible surfaces in the home after hoarding cleanout. Labor included in above rates but additional cleaning supply charge of $300 per day will apply.
Should non-carpet floor coverings and sub flooring need removal, additional charges would apply. Should bio-material be discovered disposal fees are $191 per bio box.
