Hoarding Beyond Belief!
One part of this job sometimes I don’t mind is going to new cities. I had never been to Atlanta before or any of Georgia for that matter. Born and raised in Florida, didn’t really have the need to go there before now.
This place is full from top to bottom with boxes of crap. There’s no room to even walk in some of the rooms. The man who lives here has been threatened with eviction over and over but apparently this time the Landlord made a trip out here with the cops and they gave him a week to get this place cleaned out.
I know Hoarding is a real problem to the degree there is a television show about it. Honestly, I had never known just how bad it was until I started working for Advanced Bio Treatment. We have done several hoarding cleanups in the past year that I’ve been working here.
I just can’t for the life of me understand how someone can coexist with the mice droppings, ten cats that I counted roaming inside, who knows how many are outside, and the smell just about knocks you over when you come in.
The dishes probably haven’t been washed in months I’m not kidding. How this person even managed to eat anything in this kitchen is beyond me. Hell, where does he even sleep? The beds and couches are all covered in papers and junk. I call it junk. He calls it treasures that he plans to sell one day and move out of here to the beach in Hawaii. (Right, that looks like its really going to happen???? I try not to laugh because he seriously believes this stuff will sell but when and to who???)
He’s even got several old rusty cars out in the yard that he is planning to sell for that Hawaii plan of his.
This is one of those times when the training about empathy is kind of hard for me to muster up. I mean, seriously, its so gross even if the guy has a disorder of some kind how in the world could you do this to yourself? Seriously, this didn’t happen overnight, this kind of junk took years to accumulate.
