Last we were told, suicide is the tenth most common cause of death in the United States.
Sadly, that means we’ve had a lot of experience with those calls. Especially since those numbers are growing at an alarming rate.
One of those calls came from Nashville, TN where a gentleman had taken his life over a business deal gone wrong. An investor and stock broker, this gentleman (we’ll call him John) apparently saw an opportunity to make some money and things went south for him.
To avoid being implicated in any criminal investigations due to the shady nature of his dealings, John decided one night late after work to close the door to his office, take the gun he brought from home and end his troubles with a bullet to his head.
One of the cleaning crew had heard the shot and went running to his office to find John on the floor, bleeding from his self-inflicted wound. He tried to help as best as he could until the paramedics came but couldn’t do much due to the nature and severity of John’s actions.
After we were called into his office to clean up the scene the first thing we noticed were pictures of his family on his desk. It’s so sad to see the family have to deal with such an emotional trauma and so many unanswered questions on why he did what he did.
There’s no easy way to deal with something such as this so we do what we’re trained to do and handle the clean-up so they don’t have to. Nobody should have to clean up the fluids and matter of family of friends.
Not only would the family doing the clean up be even more emotionally traumatizing but the physical risks are enormous, too.
Bodily fluids and pieces of matter can contain hazardous pathogens that pose enormous risk to the health of untrained people. There are also other dangerous factors that come into play when a firearm is used. Professionals know the hazards present and have the proper hospital-grade cleaners as well as the training to remediate contaminated areas that wouldn’t even be seen by the naked eye.
We at Advanced Bio-Treatment have the knowledge, experience and tools to handle these difficult moments with our well-trained, courteous staff all while following OSHA regulations. We can also work with your insurance company and/or family friends as an agent to shield loved ones from further hardship.
