Cleaning A Stack Up
We were called out to this Montgomery, Alabama home for a hoarding cleanup. This one was particularly interesting inside and out. The owner had apparently been living inside in this filth for years and had collected mounds of bottles, boxes, dishes and the worse is the cats and dogs. The cats were running loose all over the house, no litter boxes anywhere so they urinated and dropped feces all over the place.
Cat urine has a very strong odor and is very hard to eliminate with routine cleaning. If there is carpet, as was the case here, it has to be pulled up because the urine seeps through to the padding and saturates it. The smell permeates every room, the cats shed their hair everywhere. Its just gross.
The man who lived here had apparently died of a heart attack recently and his kids inherited the property. They must not have been to visit him in a long time or they just had no clue how he was living. I’m amazed he could even breathe in here that’s how bad it was.
We will use odor removing chemicals that are very strong that won’t just mask the odor but totally remove it. We will be hauling out garbage to dumpsters we have outside. The local Humane Society is picking up the cats. The dogs outside are apparently going with the kids. They had dog houses here so it wasn’t as bad as what the cats left behind.
This dude even had a collection of junk in the garage and the yard. He had old cars, bicycles, tires, metal tins, who knows some of it might have some value if you could get past the crud, the dirt and the smell.
We get calls like this quite frequently. Hoarders have a different mentality than most people. They find comfort in collecting what other people see as garbage. Some of them seem to be immune to the trash and the smell. It’s hard to understand but its more of a problem than most realize.

Simple – Open – Flat Rate Pricing:
Small Jobs (Studio Apartments/1 Bedroom Apartments or Condos)
$1000/per day/per technician (two techs may be required to move heavy objects / furniture)
Additional expenses will be added such as dumpster / truck / dump fees/ garbage bags – plus 21%
Includes Carpet Removal and/or cleaning / disinfecting
Larger Jobs (Homes/condos 2 or more bedrooms)
$4000/per day includes 4 technicians and 1 dumpster up to 40 CY if available in your area
Additional dumpster = cost + 21%
Includes carpet removal and/or cleaning / disinfecting
Additional Services
Clean and disinfect visible surfaces in the home after hoarding clean out. Labor included in above rates but additional cleaning supply charge of $300 per day will apply. Should non-carpet floor coverings and sub flooring need removal, additional charges would apply. Should bio-material be discovered disposal fees are $191 per bio box.
