We Have Seen it All at ABT
They say that jealousy is a green eyed monster.
Well in my line of work, we often see the carnage that monster leaves behind in its wake.
Walking into work early one Monday morning, I had to rush to answer a phone that was already ringing off the hook. The caller was an older woman who introduced herself as the mother of a homeowner that was in immediate need of our services.
After learning that the scene involved a bathroom covered in blood, we loaded up our van with the necessary tools of our trade and headed out. The address listed by the woman took us into very trendy urban neighborhood, right in the middle of uptown Baltimore.
The penthouse was located near the top of the upscale high rise, and a brief elevator ride took us straight up to the front door where we were met by a clearly anxious house keeper. Without more than a polite nod she led us through what appeared to be quite the bachelor pad, to a large bathroom located just adjacent to a very masculine decorated bedroom.
In the tiled shower stall a large amount of blood had pooled, making crimson rivers in the grout around the steel drain in the center. Two bloody footprints led out through a glass shower door to a bath mat soaked in blood as well and a pile of bloody tissues indicated that someone had attempted to stem the bleeding of a severe wound.
As we began to clean, carefully disinfecting the entire area and erasing the evidence of the trauma had occurred, my curiosity got the better of me. Turns out the housekeeper was not as reserved as she seemed.
Apparently, the young man who lived in the home had a real passion for the ladies. Unfortunately for him, he also had a knack for breaking their hearts and in this case, he had broken the wrong one. The scorned damsel, after watching one of his latest conquests leave the building, had gone in behind her to confront the victim. She found him in the shower, and before he could react, she snatched open the door and began wildly stabbing at him with the heel of her stiletto… ironically a pair of expensive shoes he had bought for her after a previous fight. Then she ran from the apartment, leaving him for dead.
But luckily for our stud, he wasn’t dead
He was badly injured, however, and had to be rushed into emergency surgery to repair the damage to his groin(she really wanted to put him out of commission, if you catch my meaning).
In the end, we easily restored his residence to the condition it was in before his attack, though the damage suffered psychologically I doubted would be so quickly erased. On my follow up call I learned that the young man was still… whole… and that the young woman had been arrested for assault with a deadly… shoe. No word on whether the shoe was injured in the attack.
