Instant Orphans From Blood Bath
Blood Cleanup: We are just finishing the cleanup here in Nashville, TN from an attempted double homicide. This was a pretty bad situation for the children of the family as both parents have been shot. The mother is hanging on but the father went instantly.
From what I hear the children were not home when the incident occurred so at least they don’t have the trauma of witnessing this to deal with in addition to the loss they are facing. We do a job not many can do or will ever want to do, but nonetheless, the job is necessary. There are some individuals who will enjoy this job because they seem to have some sort of enjoyment of the gruesome bloody messes, but for the rest of you, leave it to us!
For me, I get a sense of satisfaction comparable to a fireman who put out a fire when I do a clean up. I am a hero, in a sense! The need is here, we fill the need. Otherwise, who would do it? Unfortunately someone not qualified would do the job were it not for ABT (and there are some others who do this type of work, but I have my doubts they are as thorough as we are.)
Every time we witness these situations we know someone is left hurting and suffering. And every time I am somewhat amazed and shocked. This job is not for the squeamish or the weak stomached! This is a job for a professional, empathetic and thorough person who has the self control and patience to see it through to restoration.
The Devastation of the Loss is Enough
The last thing the victim’s family needs to do is to walk back into their home and face this. We hope you never have to face this type of situation but if you do, take comfort in knowing that there are people who are trained and prepared to help.
We have an amazing team of professionals who work together well. We work with first responders and that is important as well to maintain a working relationship with others who are called out before we are.
Blood cleanup must be done by professionally trained blood cleanup personnel in order to protect current and future inhabitants of a property as well as to ensure the safety of those cleaning blood scenes.
Blood cleanup involves the removal and cleaning or disposal of items that have been contaminated with body fluids, blood, or tissue matter, but does not stop there. Those trained in blood clean up are adept at tracking down and re-mediating areas that have been contaminated – areas that the untrained eye would not see.
When a firearm is used, there is often as much bio-hazardous material that you cannot see as there is that is visible. For the safety of a blood cleanup technician, and of future inhabitants, it is most important that this bio-hazardous material be decontaminated as well.
