The utilities had been shut off due to non-payment, and the temperature of the home had reached well into the 80’s, promoting and even accelerating decay and decomposition.
The old man was not recognizable, not even as a person; I had no idea that a body could fall apart and disintegrate in that way with little bugs all in it.
