Teens on Rampage
I could go on and on about this last job we did in Alabama. Two teenage boys, age 16 and 17, broke into the home of an elderly couple who lived in a quiet little farm house out in the country.
No one knows what these two were thinking, obviously they weren’t! We’ve been discussing this among our team.
First of all, most elderly couples who live out in the country in a little farm house don’t have the latest electronic gadgets, XBox, items that can be quickly sold and turned into cash. In the suburbs that is what we are told a lot of break ins are about. People break in to get items that can be quickly turned into cash to buy drugs.
Of course, there are the more sophisticated thieves who carefully study their victims, go in clean them out of every valuable possession and get out.
One of the techs said he thought these two were wired on Meth or something and this was a random break in to see if the old folks had cash stashed away. Another one said maybe these kids knew something about the couple that made them think they had some really valuable jewels, art or something.
I’m thinking this was a random, drug and drunken adventure gone wrong. I picture these two laughing it up in the woods, killing a fifth of whiskey, snorting coke and daring each other.
I Don’t Know What Else Would Make Sense
This home is simple, comfortable, the kind of place you would drive to visit grandma and grandpa on Sunday, have dinner, play outside with the kids. I get sick to my stomach telling this story.
I see these two breaking in on grandma and grandpa in the middle of the night when they had gone to bed.
I see them going through the drawers in the house, opening the refrigerator, grabbing a snack and spilling stuff on the kitchen floor. I think they laugh about it because they are stupid, drunk and loud and wake up the couple.
I am betting they stole a pistol from their parents and were clueless what it could actually do. I think that is why we have a blood cleanup that is breaking our hearts.
These two should face charges as adults. No matter what their state of mind this is serious crime, seriously warped.
