Our Job Is Not Easy But It Is Necessary
We got the call around 10 p.m. Monday night to head out to Montgomery, AL for a murder and burglary scene cleanup.
Coming home from work an individual found broken glass on the front porch which indicated someone had smashed in the front door and was possibly still in the home. His family’s belongings were scattered all over the house with open drawers, slashed pillows, pictures ripped off the wall. Whoever broke into this house was looking for something.
What they found besides the jewelry and credit cards was John D’s oldest son, home alone. Unfortunately, the intruders took matters into their own hands and shot him to death.
When we got there the father was still in the house, crying, seeking answers to the unanswerable question of why this happened. He appeared to blame himself for not being home to protect his firstborn.
This job will require a cleanup of the robbery including removal of fingerprint dust. The police took fingerprints by the usual method. The dust gets everywhere and has to be removed carefully because the ink will set if we don’t treat it properly as we remove it. Of course, the blood cleanup work will have to be done in the room where the crime took place.

This is a job that is not going to end as long as thieves and murderers are walking around scotch-free. Trying to understand the mentality of such a person is beyond me. I certainly hope they get what they have coming to them.
