Decontamination Services: Leftovers: A Chance Encounter
What is Thanksgiving without leftovers, right!? Well one of our clients had probably banned them from his workplace after an incident that occurred resulting in a desperate call to Advanced Bio Treatment for human waste removal and biohazard waste disposal services.
A very nice gentleman in Mark’s office brought in turkey sandwiches for the whole staff that he’d made from his leftover Thanksgiving feast. Now it was just the very next day, Black Friday, and this small retailer was open for business. What a treat he thought it would be to provide a delicious lunch for all the holiday workers, but little did he know, he was giving them a lot more than lunch!
Turkey Recall!
Mark became violently ill, vomiting just behind the podium at the entrance of the store, trying hard not to heave as shoppers passed him. He was able to contain his vomit to a small trash can beneath the podium, but the nausea intensified and Mark soon was unaware of his surroundings, vomiting as he crawled his way to the rear of the store. The other employees quickly helped him to the restroom as customers scurried out of the store. It didn’t take long, though, for the other employees to begin questioning the turkey sandwiches they’d all just finished eating. It certainly didn’t help that there had been a recall of turkeys purchased from a local retailer due to escherichia coli (E. Coli) contamination.
Mark asked one of his employees to reach out to Advanced Bio Treatment for everyone to report to the hospital. They immediately closed the store, and we arrived within an hour of the call and began the hazardous waste cleanup immediately. In addition to human waste disposal, bad odor removal, and biohazard waste disposal, the store was in need of emergency decontamination services as well. Due to the amount of vomit and body fluid on surfaces including wood flooring and carpet. Our highly trained technicians used several techniques to ensure that no human waste or dangerous contaminants remained in the wood planks, carpet padding, or sub-flooring below. After a thorough cleaning in which our technicians adhere to and exceed all biohazard waste disposal guidelines, Advanced Bio Treatment uses state-of-the-art equipment. Including the Halo Disinfection System which reaches the tiniest crevices throughout every room treated and destroys dangerous airborne viruses and bacteria.
Luckily, Mark and his employees all tested negative for Escherichia Coli and Salmonella Enterica; Mark was instead diagnosed with the influenza virus or “the flu”, but his store was fully recovered and reopened the very next day in time for the continuation of Black Friday weekend, completely cleansed and free from any and all viral and bacterial concerns.
