At Advanced Bio Treatment, we get some super strange calls, as you might imagine, and generally speaking those cases at the top of the list, for most odd, always seem to involve matters of the heart. And sex, of course.

On this particular occasion, we were actually contacted by the victim’s mother while they recovered in a nearby hospital just south of the city of Knoxville, Tennessee. As the story went, it had been a timeless tale of love gone bad.

The young man, who was in his mid twenties, had the misfortune of becoming involved with a young woman who had developed a problem with drugs and alcohol over the course of their relationship, shortly after the birth of their child.

Suffering from Postpartum Depression, she was mixing methamphetamines and alcohol with anti-depressants which proved to be an extremely volatile situation. She was a time bomb waiting to explode.

In a drug fueled state of paranoia, the spark that lit the fuse was a delusional dream that the victim had been unfaithful with a young woman in the next apartment.

She calmly went into the kitchen and grabbed a large fillet knife, then after putting their 13 month old baby girl in her crib, sat in the dark and waited.

When the victim entered the apartment, she erupted into a violent rage, slashing and stabbing wildly at her partner until he grabbed the knife away with his bare hands. But when he turned the knife to grasp the handle, she cried out and threw herself against him and the blade.

After she fell to the floor, he raced to the phone and called 911. When I say that there is a reason why you call ABT in the aftermath of an event like this one, it’s because of cases like this one. Blood was literally everywhere as a result of a panicked victim racing around the home, from the bathroom, down the hallway, to the front door, where bloody hand prints testified to fact that the woman had survived long enough to attempt to open the front door for the paramedics.

You don’t want to try and attempt to clean up a crime scene or accident scene. Blood and other bodily fluids can contain dangerous pathogens which pose a significant risk to human health. Our scene clean up technicians will decontaminate and remove any blood, tissue or bodily fluids a crime and trauma scene has left behind.

In the end we learned three things… the young man, though not fatally wounded, suffered such extensive injuries to his hands that he had to have a dozen surgeries to save them… the young woman lived and was getting the help she desperately needed, in jail… and finally… love hurts. And when combined with the romantic charm of a drug induced paranoia, it can nearly kill.
