Kentucky Man Accused in Horrendous Florida Murder
“How anybody could mutilate somebody to that degree is beyond me,” said Sheriff David Shoar, of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Department.
Greenup county Kentucky man, Timothy Dale Rose, not only killed his girlfriend, Jan Dunn Keller, age 48, he also dismembered her body, decapitated her, and buried her body in a remote undeveloped section of the same subdivision the couple had lived in.
Suspicions arose when Keller, a third grade teacher, didn’t show up for the first day of school. Investigators found Rose slumped over a shotgun in the couple’s home, apparently due to a drug overdose. A tarp was found in the garage; after they obtained a search warrant they found parts of Keller’s body in the home.
A shovel with fresh dirt on it was found in Rose’s pickup. Rose is behind bars, being held without bond in the St. John’s county jail.
The Most Heinous Crime in the County’s History
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) it is estimated there are approximately 16,800 homicides and $2.2 million (medically treated) injuries due to intimate partner violence annually. The cost of these violent acts exceeds $37 billion annually.
NCADV also indicates that no matter which partner was killed, in 70-80% of intimate partner homicides, the man physically abused the woman before the murder.
Millions of cases of abuse go unreported. Another startling statistic approximately ⅓ of all female homicide victims are killed by an intimate partner.
