We recently did a job at an apartment complex in Charlotte, NC where a man’s decomposing body was just taken away.
He kept quietly to himself and had no nearby relatives. No one realized what happened at first because of this. His car was still in the parking lot, and people said they could barely hear a TV when they walked past his door.
The only clue that something was wrong was that mail began to pile up in his mailbox. No one knew the man had died until the stench was penetrating into other units in the building. By that time, this unattended death scene had turned into a disturbing and nasty health hazard.
Many times we arrive at scenes that would sicken and disturb most people.
Thousands of flies. Bodies decomposing. Blood and human tissue splattered on floors and walls after a murder or suicide. Dog or cat waste. But it’s not only the flies, bugs, mess and stink that we deal with at a cleanup.
Blood and other nasty fluids have hidden hazards that seep into anything they touch. While the sights and smells of an unattended death are mentally disturbing, the hidden hazards are the real danger. Any number of diseases can be on (or inside) carpets, walls, floors, or furniture.
When thousands of flies show up, they bring even more health hazards and germs. This kind of area needs a cleanup that only professionals like us can do. Otherwise, it will remain (at the least) unhealthy and unsafe.
We’re equipped to deal with such disgusting and disturbing messes. We remove even the nastiest smells when we clean up a scene. But more importantly, we’ll neutralize any of the hidden bacteria and viruses that come with unattended deaths or crime scenes that are not so fresh.
We’ve seen it all when it comes to the nasty. Smelled it, too. You might think, “How can this ever be clean again?” In spite of the putrid, in spite of the mess and stench, the scene will be clean and safe when we’re done.
