A Russian couple in Miami was found dead in their two story apartment.
Their bodies weren’t discovered for five days after the deaths occurred. The neighbor admitted to hearing gunshots that night, but couldn’t place where they came from. The same neighbor heard them fight on many occasions, but didn’t really expect the worst and wanted to “mind his own business.” Apparently the man killed his wife and then took his own life out of frustration of years of domestic violence.
Very few knew of their struggles and they didn’t have any family nearby since they were from Russia. Once the police concluded their investigation we were informed that the husband and wife were lying in bed together when he committed the horrible crimes.
The neighbors admitted to not worrying about not seeing them for a few days because that was normal behavior for the couple. However, They became concerned when a foul odor started emitting from their home.
The bodies had started to rot and became blotted with thousands of flies surrounding them.
When we got involved we knew there weren’t any close relatives or friends close by so we would be working on this without families input. Most of the time we have emotional family members we try to comfort but in this situation there wasn’t a single soul.
We made sure to wear protective mask because when decomposing bodies are involved, bacteria and dangerous airborne virus can be present.
We made our way to the upstairs room where the crime occurred. We had to completely remove and dispose of the mattress, as it was covered in blood, bodily fluids and rotting skin. The odor it let off was so horrendous, it was almost unbearable to be in that room without our eyes burning.
We removed all traces of blood splatter that was on the walls and dripping down to the wood floor. Then we disinfected and made sure that all the traces of a murder suicide vanished.
It’s extremely important to call a professional for all crime scene cleanups. Blood or human remains left behind can cause serious health hazards for years to comes. We want to ensure that all risks are removed and that families start to heal. Even though no family was involved in this particular situation, it’s nice to know we could at least bring peace back to the neighbors who had been so traumatized by this.
