Every year in the United States, over 14,000 people meet their end at the hand of someone else, whether it is someone they know, as in the case of most homicides of children, or whether it is a total stranger.
We often find in situations of men looking for other men for sex. It is a particularly dark deed, murder.
Working for ABT, I’ve seen more than I would like to admit. Unfortunately, I’ve had the terrible task of cleaning up after more than a few. My only solace is that I know that through my job I am able to reach out and help a family that might otherwise have no where to turn, so I tend to take my responsibilities very seriously.
I’ve never been able to make up mind mind which I hate more: The cases we have worked that involved a totally random act of violence, or those that have been planned out methodically by someone the victim trusts. But after this next case, I am leaning a little more towards the latter.
The call came into our Northwest Regional office for a home that was located in an urban community just outside of San Francisco, California. We were responding to a horrible murder.
When we arrived at the tiny two bedroom apartment in a working class neighborhood on the south side of the city, it was clear that there had been a tragic incident: police tape still clung to the iron gate on the front stoop, one ragged end fluttering occasionally in the breeze. A few doors up a crowd had gathered and watched us as we put on our full body protective gear with curiosity and suspicion in their dark eyes.
A detective stepped out of the building, turning to mumble something to the building’s steward that had preceded the man out the door. Then he turned to me, and in the gruft way that cops can sometimes, he shook his head and gestured towards the first apartment door. His words rang in my ears: her lover put a bullet in between her lovely almond shaped eyes, right in front of their little girl… blew her head off.
Preparing myself, we entered the residence, and immediately found the evidence of a violent end to which the officer had referred. Blood had formed a huge crimson pool in the center of the small living room, and tiny spatters of blood streaked the dingy, white wall and dirty baseboards.
As we scrubbed the walls down with a special cleanser followed by a sanitizer to destroy any pathogens present in the bodily fluids, I thought about the woman who had lost her life. Why had he done it? What could she have possibly done to deserve such an inglorious end? As was the case with many of these jobs we are called to handle, we are not given all the answers. I was only left to ponder how someone who had been described as lovely by the detective could have ended up in this situation.
Next, we had to completely pull the carpet up and carefully dispose of it lest we contaminate any other portion of the home. This was followed by an intense cleaning of the sub flooring and foundation, checked and double checked to ensure all biohazardous material had been eliminated.
Finally, we repainted the walls and baseboards, and installed brand new carpet throughout the room. Standing back, the room shone like a diamond in the rough, but the grisled super of the building only gave a grunt and a nod to show his approval of our job. He had other tenants that needed to fill the space. Still, as we drove away, through deep drifts of blowing snow, I had to wonder what had become of the little girl? These are the thoughts that haunt my dreams sometimes.
Homicide cleanup must be done by professionally trained homicide cleanup personnel in order to protect current and future inhabitants of a property, as well as to ensure the safety of those cleaning homicide scenes. Advanced Bio Treatment is a professional crime scene cleanup company and can return your home or vehicle, business, or industrial site to its original clean state.
The cleanup of a murder scene involves the removal and cleaning or disposal of items that have been contaminated with biohazardous materials such as body fluids, blood, or tissue matter, but does not stop there. Those trained in homicide cleaning are adept at tracking down and remediating areas that have been contaminated – areas that the untrained eye would not see. When a firearm is used, there is often as much material that you cannot see as there is that is visible. For the safety of a homicide cleanup technician, and of future inhabitants, it is most important that this material be decontaminated as well.
Advanced Bio Treatment is the homicide cleanup company that protects you and your family by doing the job with well-trained discreet employees.
If you are a family friend or relative of someone needing homicide cleanup, we can work with you as an agent so the family is saved the hardship. If you will not be at the murder scene to shield your loved ones, we will gladly handle that for you as much as possible by handling the paperwork by fax if you prefer.
