It was a cold and rainy evening when we received the call from a woman who explained that she needed a cleanup at her newly bought home in a nice rich suburb of San Francisco.
She explained to us that her adult son who was staying with her suffered from depression since he relocated to the area. He had been living in Florida for almost ten years when he and his wife decided to divorce.
He came home to California and grew increasingly depressed to the point where he took his own life. The mother of the son was extremely upset on the phone with us and we attempted to calm her down and reassure her that we would take care of everything. We packed up our equipment and met with her that evening.
When we arrived at the house she explained to us in more detail as to exactly what happened. She was working late that day and called her son to let him know she would be getting in later than usual. She said that she hadn’t heard back from him the entire day and grew increasingly worried about him.
She said for the past few nights he had kept to himself and wasn’t very social. When we made our way into the home she took us to where the suicide took place. The police and the coroner had already come and gone at this point and the bloody mess is what’s left behind for us to take care of. The son had shot himself in his room with a shotgun. He was standing in the middle of his room and had fallen backwards.
There was an enormous amount of blood on the carpet and the walls.
Most of the light switches were stained with dried blood. The blinds had to be completely disposed of and the carpets were removed and disposed of also. The carpet wasn’t able to be saved because of the amount of blood that had soaked into the carpet. With the gunshot wound targeted at his head there will always be a large amount of blood.
